B.O.B.: What originally inspired you to get into motorsports?
C.: It was through my father. He was and still is heavily involved in motor racing as more of a mechanic scrutiny. So, the love for moto racing came from him.
B.O.B.: When did you decide to go professional?
C.: I started at the age of 9 with goKarts and when I was 16 I got out of it. That’s when we decided to step up in a big way. It wasn’t until 1994 when I got a first fulltime sort of a drive in a supercar. So in 1994 I actually got paid the first time for doing something I enjoyed.
B.O.B.: Can you give us a quick runthrough of your day as a race car driver?
C.: Most of the days we’re here quite early anywhere between 7 and 7.30 a.m. We would have a super car signing and practice if it’s practise day. We would probably have about two, three corporate visits to do throughout the day. Our day ends by a minute by minute routine. At the end of the day we would sit down and we would go through what we’ve learned. We leave the track about 7.308 p.m.
B.O.B.: How many countries have you travelled to?
C.: We’ve been to Texas, Indonesia, Dubai and New Zealand (where we go every year).
B.O.B.: What’s your favourite place to go to?
C.: I really enjoy Texas. It is one of the states I never thought I would travel to, especially with the super car family. It was a huge experience. I also love The States I would like to spend more time there and learn more about it.
B.O.B.: What’s something most people don’t know about motorsports or V8 racing?
C.: Well, we travel together as a family. No matter what team you’re from, we always support each other. We have hard times, bad times and good times, which we celebrate together. As a race team we’re very proud and it doesn’t matter if we’re losers or winners.
B.O.B.: We know you had 105 wins. What’s one of your proudest moments?
C.: The most memorable win would be 2006 when we won in Bathurst. that was a year after the passing of Peter Brock, who was a huge mentor and inspiration for me. We all went to Bathurst in honour of his name.
B.O.B.: So would you say so favourite V8 driver of all time is Peter Brock?
C.: Yeah, Peter Brock. We grew up in the same area in Victoria, we went to the same high school and played at the same football club. We had a lot of alliance in and out of motor racing. He was very good at helping me along when I first got involved.
B.O.B.: What is racing with Red Bull like compared to other teams and experiences?
C.: Red Bull is very passionate; they love the sport. Basically, they’re as professional as we are as a team. This is the way we run our business we strive for wins and perfection. I think it’s a great synergy between Red Bull and Triple Eight.
B.O.B.: What’s your opinion on the motorsport industry in Australia right now?
C.: I think it’s very healthy at the moment. We’ve got some great categories below and around us. When it’s time to step out of the seat, the next person will step in. We’ve got a very healthy competitiveness at the moment and that’s very important.
B.O.B.: A lot of people say that you will probably never leave this sport. Is this true?
C.: Oh, look…We love the sport, it’s been a part of my life for a long time.
B.O.B.: What’s Some of your favourite experiences?
C.: The formula was a massive experience and it was given to us as an opportunity from a previous sponsor. We were driving around Bathurst in 2008 Jensen Button was there and we literally swapped cars. It was an awesome experience and one of those things you think you will never be able to do.
B.O.B.: Is there anything else you would like to add?
C.: Just follow your dreams, and if you want to become a race driver just continue and keep driving forward!
