B.O.B Gets Down And Dirty With FMX Protegee And 2 X-Games GOLD Medalist Jackson Strong

Jackson Strong is a part of the new breed of kids taking over FMX, at the age of 21 Jackson is already a veteran of the sport of FMX , he’s been touring the world with the infamous “Crusty Demons Of Dirt” for almost a decade.

The Metal Mulisha/Rockstar Energy team rider  seems to have  done it all , in a very short amount of time ,hes broken world records at a young age including being the youngest person to ever flip a 75 foot gap, hes won X-Games best trick 2 x and has toured the world, moved to America to live with the infamous FMX Legend Brian Deegan  and all before the drinking age in the good old USA.

We at B.O.B are big fans of Jackson, he does 1 handed front flips over 80 feet to dirt, he does special flip variations (which he calls the jack) and  he does all his more traditional upright tricks properly with good technique, extension and with a flare for style that not many riders have and to top it of  hes a down to earth and very intelligent country kid. We sat down with Jackson recently to talk back to back X-Games golds, what its like growing up around the rockstars of the FMX world and where the worlds hottest women come from  the kid has the skills to pay the bills Enjoy.

JACKSON HAS BEEN A MEMBER OF THE INFAMOUS METAL MULISHA TEAM FOR SOME TIME NOW, MULISHA CO FOUNDER AND FMX PIONEER BRIAN DEEGAN HAS TAKEN JACKSON  UNDER HIS WING AND HELPED HIM GET TO THE LEVEL THAT HES AT NOW.

Name: Jackson Strong

Profession: Freestyle motocross

Sponsors: Rockstar, Metal mulisha, MSR, Komatsu, Wagga Motors, DVS, Cango Sheds

Age: 21

Hometown: Lockhart, NSW

B.O.B: When did you start riding dirt bikes and where?

Jackson Strong: I started riding when I was 11 on my parents farm.

B.O.B: Who were your early influences as a rider?

Jackson Strong: Brian Deegan and Robbie Maddison

B.O.B: It seems that when you and I were young the biggest thing in FMX was the Crusty Demons tours. You did quite a few of those tours growing up. How did you come to join the Crusty Demons originally and how did it shape you as an up and coming FMX rider?

Jackson Strong: I started touring with the Crustys when I was 14 and it shaped me into the rider and person I am today. Riding and hanging out with those guys was so influential on my life.

B.O.B: Can you tell us any boozy/crazy groupie stories from those days? And was it a shock seeing the rock star antics of the older riders at such a young age?

Jackson Strong: No, I can’t tell any stories… what goes on tour stays on tour… Some wild things for a 14 year old country boy to see happened though!

B.O.B: As a youngster you held quite a few world records, such as being the youngest person ever to back flip a 75 foot ramp. What fueled this need to progress so fast so young?

Jackson Strong: I just wanted to be able to battle with the big boys on tours and when we were out practicing. So learning to flip was something that naturally had to be done.

B.O.B: What’s the FMX scene like where you live?

Jackson Strong: The FMX scene in the Lockhart area has grown a lot over the last five years. Because there’s such good places to ride around here we always have big name riders staying to train and hang out. For the local riders it’s a tight nit group of friends.

B.O.B: Can you tell us what it felt like to win best trick in the X-games not once, but twice?

Jackson Strong: It’s an amazing feeling to train so hard and be so nervous for a contest and then come out on top with a win. It makes it all worthwhile!

B.O.B: Would you consider winning X-Games Gold for the first time with the front flip to be the breakthrough moment of your career?

Jackson Strong: Yeah that one definitely put me on the map.

JACKSON DOES TRICKS NO ONE ELSE HAS THE BALLS TO PERFECT…FRONT FLIP STOMPED LIKE A BOSS

B.O.B: You’ve just won X-Games best trick for the 2nd time, the best trick award at X-fighters and have dropped two pretty sick video parts in “On the pipe 6” and in the Metal Mulisha’s movie “Black Friday”. Which do you prefer –competing or filming and shooting photos?

Jackson Strong:I’m going to say shooting photos and film because it’s a much more relaxed and fun atmosphere. And you get to hang with your mates and ride!

B.O.B: You have the “Jack”, the front flip combos ect. Can you tell us some of the latest tricks you have been learning/have in mind to learn in the future?

Jackson Strong: If I told you I would have to kill you.

B.O.B: In most action sports, video parts are just as important as comps. In Twitch’s movie he shows all natural 420 footage with pure freeride video parts. Do you have any plans/aspirations to film a video part with no ramps and all freeride terrain being showcased?

Jackson Strong: I think Twitch is doing a great job with all the natural freeriding footage at the moment but it would be cool to have a segment in one of his films!

B.O.B: What other sports/past times are you into besides FMX when you get downtime?

Jackson Strong: I enjoy driving cars and being a farm kid.

B.O.B: With numerous people doing double back flip comps, you doing front flip comps and you and all sorts of other cats doing body varials of all sorts, where do you see the future of FMX going and what kind of tricks do you think will be thrown down in five years time?

Jackson Strong:  contest’s are going to look like best trick contests!

B.O.B: What do you think of Thomas Page doing real well without the back flip and his QP flares and Flare one handers? Do you have Quarter Pipe tricks in your mind?

Jackson Strong:  Thomas is an amazing rider and his quarter pipe flair has really impressed me! It’s something that I want to work on for next year’s contest season!

B.O.B:  Where do you aspire to take your FMX career? Is there anything left that you really want to accomplish as a rider?

Jackson Strong: I would like to compete for another five years or so. Another five gold medals would be great too. Haha

B.O.B: You have been on the Metal Mulisha for quite a few years and live and train in America with MM’s Co Founder Brian Deegan. Can you tell us about how you originally got on MM and how being mentored by such a legend like Brian has helped you develop as a rider and as a person?

Jackson Strong: I first met Deegan on a crusty tour and we have gotten on well together since then. I told him I wanted to come ride in America and be a part of Mulisha and he did everything to shape my career.

B.O.B: If we are at the Bar and it’s our shout, what are you drinking?

Jackson Strong: Depends what time of the night… Probably a beer.

B.O.B: Favourite athletes outside of FMX?

Jackson Strong: I look up to gymnasts because I appreciate how hard they work and what they can make their body do.

B.O.B: Which country has the hottest women?

Jackson Strong: Australia ;).

B.O.B: Shout Outs?
